When photographers brought up Wangchuk, Mannara looked visibly puzzled and said, “Main iss baare mein kuch comment nahi karna chahungi.(I wouldn’t like to comment on this)” As the paparazzi pressed on with further questions, including her take on Aamir Khan‘s remark that ‘3 Idiots’ wasn’t inspired by Sonam Wangchuk, she stuck to her stance, replying, “Mujhe nahi pata(I do not know).” Pressed again, Mannara glanced at Shiv Thakare with a confused look before saying, “Kya? Mujhe nahi pata, sorry(What? I don’t know, sorry.)” and moved on without continuing the conversation further.

The questions came at a time when Wangchuk was already back in the public eye. On Saturday, July 18, the activist was taken to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after wrapping up 20 days of his indefinite hunger strike. Delhi Police stated that the move for treatment was based on medical advice as well as directions issued by the Delhi High Court.
