When your father is one of the biggest names in rock music, it’s easy to imagine the family legacy being centered around guitar and a stage. But not every child of a star follows the spotlight; some chase their own path into adulthood. For Bruce Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, it was all about being proud when their youngest son, Sam, chose a job that asks him to run toward danger when most people run away.

Parents, when your child refuses to greet relatives, do you make them say hello or respect their choice?

Sam did not catapult to the path all at once; it grew slowly over years of training and hard work in small New Jersey towns

Bruce Springsteen’s youngest son Sam becomes a Jersey City firefighter, and his mom’s message says it all

Bruce Springsteen is often called the voice of New Jersey, and while most of us would expect that the next generations would also take up a similar path for their lives, his youngest son is serving the state in a very different way. His wife Patti Scialfa took to Instagram to congratulate their son Sam, who is 25, on becoming a firefighter in Jersey City.Scialfa posted teh congratulatory message with a short and heartfelt caption, “CONGRATULATIONS,” she wrote, adding a fire emoji. She continued: “You followed your dreams…JC firefighter .. 💪Stay safe 💪.. ❤️love your brave heart❤️.” The post came with a black-and-white photo of Sam. As per the report, family friend Rita Wilson commented: “Go Sam!!!!!”

Sam had taken a civil service exam to join the department.

According to USA Today, he sat the exam in March. He was already an experienced firefighter by then. Sam has worked as a volunteer with the Colts Neck, where the family has a home, followed by Long Branch and North Wildwood fire departments.

His training began years earlier.

In 2014, Scialfa shared a smiling photo of Sam in uniform after he graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy. “My youngest son, Sam, graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy tonight,” she wrote, with the hashtag “our family hero.” Monmouth County Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III told USA Today at the time that Sam was “very smart”. He also said Sam “enjoyed what he was doing.”

His work has made a real difference too

In 2016, while serving with the North Wildwood Fire Department, Sam and another firefighter worked together to rescue a fisherman stuck in the mud. The Cape May County Herald covered the rescue.Sam grew up in a famous household, but his parents say music was never forced on their children. Bruce and Patti also have son Evan, who was 29 at the time of the report, and daughter Jessica, 27. In a 2017 interview with The New York Times, Bruce said, “We had our kids late, I was 40 when our first son was born, and they showed a healthy disinterest in our work over all the years”.He added, “They had their own musical heroes; they had their own music they were interested in. They’d be pretty blank-faced if someone mentioned a song title of mine.” He also said, “I kind of like that… I always looked upon that as that we did a good job.”
